Exorcist Monsignor Stephen Rossetti was removed as exorcist in the Archdiocese of Washington. But we're not being told why. I have some ideas of my own.
I don’t buy it. These leftist Bishops don’t give a rip about orthodoxy. If they did Fr James Martin LGBTQ+ would be removed and silenced. The heretical statements and actions of faithless American Bishops has been an ongoing scandal since the rejection of the contraception encyclical in ‘68.
Fr. James Martin…” that’s all you hear when stuff like this happens….and it’s a completely legit manta. That man has more pastoral lives than a cat he just keeps on going and nobody puts them in check
Agreed. It seems like overkill to me when something else may have sufficed. There probably is much more to this even if only personal issues. I believe that the grace given to a priest to be able to perform an exorcism is given by the power of our Lord - that must be acknowledged and taken into serious account even by the authority of the archbishop. All I can say is I grow weary of the shenanigans embraced by many in the shepherding of our Church. My faith remains strong and I live for the time I can just sit and be with the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. It is what centers and restores me.
All right, I gotta ask. If demons can impersonate aliens, which we know they can, what happens if I supposed alien lands and tells everyone that Christianity is false?
This is indeed most peculiar and also , likely not the whole story.
If there was more to this than meets the eye, history would show (in general and especially in the Church) that an honest open statement of the real reason, is the best policy for all concerned.
Instead, we're left with a half-baked explanation that satisfies no one, and just nurtures the gossip machines.
Saying " I personally believe that UFOs are demonic " is worth getting sacked in this day and age?
Nobody believes this.
Yet another very public bad decision by the Archbishop .
"Personally, I think this dismissal was foolish and reckless, and McElroy’s actions didn’t do the church any favors. "
Without knowing why he was really dismissed, it's hard to know if it was foolish and reckless. What I know from some pewsitter experiences is that my diocese is very discrete, generally choosing to allow blame to fall on themselves rather than air the Church's dirty laundry.
If someone is emphatically, repetitively, and publicly talking about both demons and UFOs, there's a huge warning flag about what might going on in the background. It's probably the tip of the proverbial ice berg of mental issues, if you catch my drift. As time as gone on, I am much more inclined to say, "I have no idea if it was a good idea or not. I just don't know. There are not enough facts to make a judgement. " In the era of priest shortages and heightened social media of all kinds, we know there was at least a disincentive to remove him. That's all we can know from at least the diocesan side.
I would suggest that being the exorcist for the diocese might indeed justify the former, if not necessarily the latter when "emphatically, repetitively, and publicly talking about .... demons (and UFOs)".
I agree

Yes, this is a very good and interesting way to see it. Wait until the president makes this disclosure this summer about aliens.
They can only do what God permits them to do. Even if he allowed them to do that it would probably be to put the faithful to the test.
